This is the third of three projects I shot this summer in the Somme area (France). I already posted Organic Beauty and Woman in Nature. A Countryside Day Out for us was young women biking, picnicking, and having fun in an orchard.
It was the first time for me to go with two models for a shoot abroad for a couple of days. I guess the trip was pretty successful: I managed to shoot most of my shot lists and the stock agency was happy with the results. We put a lot of energy in pre-production, not only the location scouting but also in model casting and preparing a good shot list. I trusted on the models for styling and makeup. They did a great job !! But next time I should book a makeup artist with also a good feeling for styling.
Here a few pics with the models biking in the fields. Uhh…you will understand that this was not shot in one time. I guess the girls came down about 20 or 25 times, not complaining it was about 33 degrees Celcius. Not that easy to shoot these biking girls. But it helps the Canon 1Ds can shoot raw at a high frame rate. Best to shoot your frames with a wide-angle or zoomlens - for instance a 24-70 mm lens – when the models are real close.

We found this orchard on a very weird place.. on one side a very busy motorway and on the other side some kind of industry. But it certainly was a nice orchard, especially with magic morning sunlight !! And yes, the apples were ripe and tasted very good !!

After a hard day’s work it is time to relax. The models didnot mind to have some nice rosé together with a very healthy pic nic. Many thanks to the models, Evelyne Mertens and Stefanie Rondelez (who also did the makeup) !!

This project Countryside Day Out certainly was the most fun to shoot !!! Again lovely weather and we found all the locations necessary to shoot our complete shotlist and the girls were really TOP !!
